Brainstorming on a wall of sticky notes
The wall works because a note can be moved, discarded or rewritten without ceremony. That freedom produces ideas a form would have filtered out.
What matters here
- Low cost to propose and discard
- Everyone can contribute at once
- Notes fall, curl and get lost
- Photos lose the order and the reasoning
- Grouping is temporary by design
What the wall is for
Divergence. Sticky notes make quantity cheap until patterns appear, and the physical movement of clustering them produces conversation that a list view does not. That is the whole value and it happens in one session.
The day after
The wall is usually gone by the next morning, either cleaned or covered. Whatever was decided in front of it has to be written down before people leave, or the session produces a pleasant memory and no change.
Capture before you leave the room
Photograph the clusters, then write one note per cluster with the idea and the next step. Photos alone are not a record because nobody opens a camera roll looking for a decision.

- How do I organize my finances?Personal finance organization is mostly about seeing recurring obligations in one place. Budgeting tools are secondary to knowing what is due and when.
- Do I need a paid plan? You need a paid plan when a specific feature you use weekly sits behind it. Needing one because the marketing page was persuasive is not a reason.
