What is a watchlist?
A watchlist solves a small, specific problem: the recommendation arrives, you are not ready to watch it, and a week later you cannot remember the title. Writing it down is the whole feature.
What matters here
- One entry per title, with a status
- Where you heard about it
- Marking watched without deleting the history
- A short list beats a huge one
- Separate from your work tasks
Why it belongs outside tasks
A film you might watch is not work with a deadline. Mixing it into a task list makes both lists noisier, and the watchlist items sit there looking overdue for months.
The recommendation backlog
Most watchlists fill faster than they empty, because recommendations arrive constantly. A monthly prune, where you remove anything you no longer want to see, keeps the list meaningful.
Keeping the reason
A one line note about who recommended it or what it is about is the difference between a list you use and a list of titles you do not recognise.
